tcrgadventures:

This is a round dance in reel timing for any number of couples but preferably no fewer than 6. It is traditionally danced around the bonfire on St.Johns Eve.

All dancers start in a ring holding hands.

1st Advance and Retire - 8 bars
Advance for four bars and retire for four bars.
2nd Rings
While everyone is still holding hands, sidestep to the right (anti-clockwise) and finish with two threes(4 bars) then sidestep to the left(clockwise) and finish with two threes (4 bars).

Easily one of my favorite Ceili dances ever. It encompasses what the entire experience means to me, and I love it!

This is part of my life now. Not only because I do Ceili dancing, but because Ireland is a part of my heritage, and I am most proud of it when I am spinning about in the dances of my people.
